Wild Waves Water Park Expansion and Parking Lot Featured

Project Name:
Wild Waves Water Park Expansion and Parking Lot

Contract Amount: $5,500,000
Period of Performance: November 1999 to July 2000
Owner: Wild Waves/Enchanted Parks

Description: This unique civil, industrial and building project was a fast tracked test of permitting, coordination and construction. The owner of Wild Waves hired Allen-Bradbury Construction early in the pre-planning stages of the expansion. The work included clearing a five acre site and constructing a new 300-plus stall parking lot, expanding the existing water park to include a new 44 foot high, five flume fiberglass water slide, a 1000 LF floating river ride, and a new pump house and filtration/mechanical/electrical building. Our role included the solicitation and selection of the design-build ride manufacturer, local architect, and structural and mechanical/electrical engineer. Allen-Bradbury coordinated interface of the entire design team and the on-board civil engineer for submission of permits and preliminary budgeting. This project was further complicated by the proximity of the Olympic Pipeline and the need to relocate existing primary power and gas services. Allen-Bradbury managed the design work, provided preliminary and final budgets, handled all permitting requirements, solicited, selected and contracted with the subcontractors and staffed the work site with field supervisors and as needed labor. Although a large majority of the work was subcontracted, we constructed the design-build bridge, safety-railing system on the tower and made improvements to two existing buildings to marry the existing facility to the new construction. This construction management contract represents our expertise in coordinating large complex design-build construction projects. The compressed time frame for permitting and construction mandated tight scheduling control and working overtime to meet opening dates.
